Introduction

Since December 2019, a pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread globally. Worldwide, countries are reporting daily number of new cases, recoveries, and sadly, deaths due to this novel virus. The infectious nature of the virus in addition to its novelty, has resulted in many countries adopting approaches to ‘flatten the curve’ of the spread of the virus. These measures include (but are not limited to) social distancing, education around and adoption of hygiene practices, ‘lockdowns’ and restricted movements, contact tracing and testing individuals presenting with symptoms or who have been in contact with confirmed positive cases. As scientists are continually learning more about this novel virus, information shared to countries around symptoms, recommendations, testing etc will be revised as well.
